Shnufflecakes

The past week or so has been filled with construction! drama! The original guy that we had working on our porch expansion got a job with actual paychecks and benefits and everything, so he kind of had to take it, leaving us, unfortunately, with just a suggestion of a deck in our yard. We called in the emergency back-up porch guy (Katie‘s brother
), who came to our rescue and is almost done building it.
Also, like a dumbass, I fell into a construction-related hole and now have an epic bruise on my leg. It’s one of those bruises that makes me feel like I have to wear long pants out in public, lest I get concerned, ‘Are you being abused?’ looks from strangers.
Haven’t done much with yarn lately (I figure I’ll get the keggle back out after the construction shenanigans are completed), but I have been making some fibery goodness. Put a bunch of stuff up in the shop today.
I was really happy with the results of my cellulose dyeing binge the other week, and finally got everything washed and rinsed, so I made a couple of lots of just plain (uncombed) roving available.
Took a little break from the cooking madness, but that started up again recently. Made some cookies and scones, and then realized I had an entire container of cream in the fridge that was about to expire, so I made a huge batch of chocolate ganache. I mixed it up a little bit by putting some cayenne pepper and cinnamon in with the chocolate to make it kind of Aztec-y.
I’m also trying to get the motivation to make a mega batch of gazpacho, but I don’t think that’s going to happen tonight. It’ll have to wait until tomorrow. I think I’m about to get smacked in the head by a big allergy attack. I’ve felt shnuffly and out of sorts all day today.
Randomly, I just discovered that Stone Temple Pilots did an awesome cover of David Bowie’s ‘Andy Warhol.’ I’ve always kind of liked Stone Temple Pilots; now I like them even more.

I was wondering when you were going to take a pic of the deck. It looks great.
