Nanos for everyone!
Mar 4th, 2009 by Jacki
Travis surprised me this morning with iPod Nanos.
I love them, of course, because they’re orange and green and sparkly.
Got the sock yarn all spun up the other night, and it completely kicked my ass. It’s been a while since I’ve spun and plied that quantity of skinny yarn. I think I was at the spinning wheel for about 5 hours straight. Didn’t start feeling uncomfortable until the very end, and didn’t really hurt until two days later. I’m on Day 3 of being a gimp. Apparently my treadling muscles are very, very angry with me. The yarn came out good, if a little bit thinner than I had anticipated. It’s 4.75 ounces and 515 yards. Right now it looks alarmingly skinny, but I think once I block it it will plump up.
It’s supposed to start warming up here tomorrow. The forecast is for warmer temps – above 50! – and rain. Yay!
I can deal with the rain. Maybe that means I’ll stop being the Queen of Static Electricity. I’ll be able to pet the cat again without it hurting both of us! Hooray!
Feel very random tonight. Oh, just throwing this out here, on the odd chance anyone has any Polaroid film they’re looking to unload – I’d gladly trade yarn and/or fiber for some. I’m all about the barter system right now (that’s how Travis got the Nanos). Plus, the more Polaroid film I have, the more crazy shit I can do with them.
Mmm, Polaroid soup…
Randomly, again, I was trying to find a decent version of Vampire Weekend’s ‘Ottoman’ on YouTube, and wound up coming across a closed caption version of Flight of the Conchords’ ‘Bret, You Got it Going On.’ I’m not sure exactly why, but the captioning just makes the song even more hilarious. Enjoy!

It better not rain on Saturday! I love that skein of handspun. Great job.
The photo of the paper umbrella is awesome! Alas, no Polaroid film or I’d happily ship it off to you. Happy sock knitting!
That sock yarn turned out beautifully! But 5h on the same yarn, wow, I always lack the patience for that kind of spinning. The results are definitely worth it though, but I would just get soo bored….
Hopefully you will share the WIPs of that yarn being turned into something, I am sure ot will be gorgeous!

The sock yarn turned out awesome. And 515 yards is some kindof stamina!
I have 4 packs of 10 exposures of polaroid film I bought in January 1999. I also have the OneStep camera purchased at the same time. Trading either or both would be fine with me if you’re interested in antique film! Did you know that each film pack has a battery inside?
hey, lady! speaking of sock yarn hand-spun by you, i revisted the hanukkah joy recently. i’m doing 2-at-a-time toe-up and they’re almost ready for some short row heel action (i got some reinforcement thread to hold with it for sturdiness, too – perfect shade of denimy blue to disappear)! i’ll get some pics this weekend, maybe!
also, there’s a columbus hike & knit group that you should check out on rav! sometimes they find places that are doggie friendly, too!
woo, we’re going to see flight of the conchords in may. i always have “you don’t have to be a prostitute” stuck in my head. sometimes i sing it to my baby.
