Keep it together people, we can get through this!

Travis and I are celebrating Emo Day today! I didn’t want to do the same old boring Emo Day festivities, like sitting around listening to Death Cab For Cutie and crying, so instead I whipped up this little Emo Day plushie:
I made it using some wool scraps, my new felted fabric, and sadness.
Travis and I were able to take a bit of a shopping trip on Saturday, so I was able to get my polyfil! 6 bags of it! It was on sale.
We also went to Lowes and found ourselves pocketing some of these:
They’re samples of some kind of new weird insulation made by Dow. Dow scares the crap out of me, but I was all, “Hey, it looks like you might be able to spin that!” Unfortunately…
…not so much. I did use a little bit of it when I made the Emo-face felt, and it felted just fine. So, now you know.
Travis was really productive and made a new UBER HACKLE!!! amongst other productive things. It is massive. I took it for a test drive and combed up these balls:
I had been getting roving balls that weighed about 1/2 ounce with our other hackle. With this one, the roving balls came out to be around 1 1/8 ounces (some were even heavier!). It’s pretty nifty. I think I’m going to spin up this yarn and try to navaho ply it, since I’m kind of in a mood where I feel like giving navaho plying a shot. Plus, Travis said he wanted me to show him how to do it, and I figured I need to be comfortable with it before I try to teach anyone else. We’ll see how well that goes.
Since I now have polyfil, I’ll probably be going back to stuffing my deflated Pointy Kitties. I’m trying to give myself a kick in the rear to get back to doing some knitting. I think my brain was just all, “Woo! Christmas is over! Knitting vacation!” but now I kind of would like to start knitting stuff again. At the least, I would like to have a mindless hat or pair of socks going so I have TV or travel knitting. I guess since it’s Emo Day, I could just have a great big cry about my lack of knitting and see where that gets me.

Today is anything but sad for me. Today is a paid holiday. Yippee!
you always have the nicest balls
I’m going to have to get brave and make a hackle. And find a button dizzy thingy. I have some fiber that is really very not great colors, but I think that blending it together it would be nice. I’d at least like to try! And I think maybe I’d get nicer blends doing it that way than doing it with hand carding combs. Your little fiber balls always look so bright and soft and fluffy! -Tricia
EMU day. Heh. Love the uberhackle!
PS PS Has anyone told you lately that you make my day? Check out my blog if you get a minute to play along.
PPS Oh, and you just reminded me of the time my brother was too poor to buy a bed, so he planned to get a bunch of free mattress samples in the mail and glue them together. He was quite disappointed to find out that the samples were only 2 inches big!
