The last few days have been taken up with doing adult type things. For example, yesterday we put new tires on the truck. Woo hoo! Craziness! I’m all excited, though, because I’ve got less than 30 hours left to February. I see it’s a leap year this year, apparently just [...]

AMC has been playing the Godfather films over the past weekend. I caught most of Godfather II the other night, and I’m watching Godfather III right now.
Much like our close relationship with food, the Godfather movies are an important part of my family’s mythology. I still remember the time when my parents rented [...]

Torchwood! Woot!
I wound up spending the majority of the day today going through old photos – actual photographs, not digital images – while Travis was trying to build Franken-puter. After I got the use of my computer back, I started scanning in some of my favorites. We have always taken a ton [...]

Random Craving – When I saw that the Clinton campaign had spent $1,200 on Dunkin Donuts in the month of January I, 1. Thought that was perfectly reasonable and, 2. Had such a strong dougnut craving I made Travis go to Tim Horton’s for a box of Timbits when he came home from work.

This really doesn’t happen around here, ever, but I wound up watching cable news for pretty much all day today. I hardly ever watch TV during the day (unless there’s some wacky CSPAN shenanigans or something), but I was working on finishing up a quilt (see below, or here) and doing some hand sewing, [...]

Memo to Torchwood: Your show has improved so much from last season’s debacle. Thanks you for letting Captain Jack have fun again. But please do not torture and kill any more tremendous, gentle, space manatees. :’(
Somehow I managed to pull myself out of the great sinking depression that last night’s episode [...]
Things have actually been accomplished lately! But first, an avocado interlude:
I had half of an avocado leftover from lunch yesterday, and nothing to eat it with. I ran out of tortillas (I know! I’ll have to make more) and I didn’t feel like making up a batch of sushi rice. Instead, [...]

Valentine’s Day at Casa de Yarnzombie

(apologies for the above – I took French in high school, not Spanish)
Conversation that occured here yesterday:
Me: Tomorrow’s Valentine’s Day.
Travis (a bit panicky): I didn’t get you anything!
Me: I didn’t get you anything either!
Together: Woo-hoo!
Some years we do something for Valentine’s Day, and some years we don’t. This was one [...]
